Anyone have any fun memories of how you got your own set of the Goodbye, Galaxy! games? Did anyone go out to purchase a copy on the day of release all those 30 years ago? In celebration, I thought I'd at least start a thread about it. Whatever the date, I think we can safely say it has passed.

Surely it must have taken a few days after the floppies were prepared to ship them to physical stores, since this was before the internet.) (Honestly I'm not quite convinced of the accuracy of using modification dates to determine the release date either. Any idea why the inconsistency between KeenWiki and Wikipedia? I didn't think Keen 5 was ever sold as a stand-alone game without including the first half of the set. However, KeenWiki states that Keen 5 was released on December 18 (and puts Keen 4's release earlier, on November 22), citing file modification dates. According to Wikipedia, that momentous date was December 15 1991. Has anyone gotten it to play smoothly? Your best bet is to use Commander Genius, as these games due to the frame rate they ran at, can have a perceptible stutter to some people especially if you are used to higher framerates.30 years ago, the second set of Commander Keen games, entitled Goodbye, Galaxy!, was released. I tried forcing dosbox to use Vsync in my Nvidia control panel, but it had no effect. Either the game isn't updating fast enough or it's updating too fast. It looks like stuttering might be due to screen tearing. So, reinstalled and manually changed the cycles in the conf file from auto to 10000.

He said it would reduce stuttering because he set the cycles to 10000. I tried downloading another nf file that someone else posted. I changed the output=overlay to the other options (like ddraw), but it didn't remove the stuttering. I tried editing the nf file and set fulldouble=true (because the info in that file said it would reduce stuttering. I tried turning on the in game option to reduce stuttering. Hudfreegamer: How do I disable the stuttering in the Commander Keen games? Specifically, episodes 4 (Goodbye Galaxy) and later.
